Job Role: Finance Director

Department: Finance, Howden Singapore

A LEADING GLOBAL INDEPENDENT BROKER

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic & Executive Leadership

  • Act as a senior advisor to the CEO and Executive Committee on financial strategy, business performance, and risk matters.
  • Contribute to corporate strategy, business planning, and longterm growth initiatives.
  • Provide financial insight and challenge to support commercial decisions, acquisitions, and new business initiatives.

Financial Reporting & Performance Management

  • Oversee all financial reporting, including management accounts, statutory accounts, and regulatory submissions.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Analyze financial performance, commission income, cost drivers, and profitability by business line.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs and dashboards to support performance management.
  • Ensuring data integrity and continuous process improvement. (e.g., Broking system, Accounting system, etc)

Governance, Risk & Internal Controls

  • Establish and maintain strong financial governance, internal controls, and risk management frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, statutory, and group reporting requirements.
  • Lead internal and external audits, including remediation of audit findings.
  • Maintain oversight of policies relating to financial controls, authorization limits, and delegated authorities.

Client Money & Fiduciary Fund Oversight

  • Ensure proper segregation, control, and reconciliation of client money and fiduciary funds in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee premium, commission, and insurer settlement processes.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of broker income recognition and reconciliations.
  • Act as a key approver and accountable officer for client money controls.

Treasury, Cashflow & Banking

  • Oversee cashflow forecasting, liquidity management, and working capital optimization.
  • Manage banking relationships, mandates, and payment authorizations.
  • Ensure appropriate controls over operating accounts, trust accounts, and payment processes.

Tax, Regulatory & Statutory Compliance

  • Oversee corporate tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing (where applicable), and -regulatory filings.
  • Ensure compliance with local insurance intermediary regulations and financial reporting standards.
  • Act as a key point of contact for regulators, auditors, and external advisors.

Business Partnering & Operations Support

  • Work closely with business units to support operational efficiency, commercial decisions, and financial performance improvement.
  • Provide financial insights in new business initiatives and assist in M&A process when necessary.
  • Support operational enhancements including automation, dashboard development, and new broking/finance systems adoption.

Audit, Tax & Regulatory

  • Manage statutory audit, internal audit, tax reporting, transfer pricing, and regulatory submissions.

Acts as Finance owner for SOX (ICFR):

  • Leads SOX scoping, documentation, testing, and remediation.
  • Oversees controls across finance, client money, and systems.
  • Reports SOX status, risks, and remediation progress to senior management/Audit Committee.

Team Management

  • Lead and develop the finance team, including accounting, FP&A, and IBA functions
  • Implement scalable finance processes and systems to support growth

OUR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; Must be CPA/CA qualified.
  • 1015 years of relevant experience including leadership roles in finance, preferably within insurance, financial services, or regulated industries.
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, FP&A, statutory compliance, governance, and internal controls.
  • Proven track record of leading teams and partnering with senior leadership.
  • Experience with finance systems such as Unit4, OneStream, Power BI, and ERP/automation tools is advantageous.
