Environmental Control Officer (Engineering / West)

Job Responsibilities:

• The personnel(s) performing this role shall possess certified Environmental Control Officer certification and registered as an Environmental Control Officer with the National Environment Agency.
• The ECO shall put in place measures to ensure the highest standards of environmental health are maintained in the camps and training areas.
• The ECO shall monitor, identify and anticipate environmental threats (such as food, water, air & vector-borne diseases) in the camps and training areas. He shall respond, investigate, establish and work with the respective Authority for any outbreaks (such as but not limited to Dengue, Zika, Malaria, Leptospirosis, Noro Virus).
• The ECO shall assist the Authority in all investigation works, including coordinate, work with the respective Authority and other contractors to collect water samples and carry out 100% audit on the camp premises within the time frame required by the Authority upon notification by the Authority of any outbreak investigation. The ECO will be required to certify and supervise the remedial works as instructed by the Authority.
• The ECO shall ensure pest, vector and other environmental control measures are properly executed and satisfactorily completed and highlight any non-compliances to the Authority's appointed contractors (pest control contractors). The ECO shall supervise works carried out by the Authority's appointed contractors carrying out the pest control works.
• The ECO shall carry out monthly camps or training area audits for all camps and training areas. These monthly audits shall cover the entire camp and half of the training areas. The ECO shall generate audit inspection reports within the stipulated timeframe required by the Authority.
• The ECO shall be present throughout and highlight outstanding issues during the scheduled audits of the camps or training areas with the Authority. The ECO shall commence and complete the rectification works within the timeframe stipulated by the Authority.
• The ECO shall establish and carry out monthly mosquito surveillance system to eradicate and prevent any mosquito breeding in camps and training areas. The ECO shall review and ensure the effectiveness of the measures. The ECO shall maintain proper documentation of all works and to produce such documentation when requested by the Authority.
• The ECO shall assist the Authority to detect and eradicate any pests in camps and training areas. The ECO shall ensure that hazards such as bee-hives and hornets nests detected within the camps and training areas are promptly destroyed by pest control contractors. The ECO shall ensure that all necessary safety measures are put in place.
