Job Summary
The Maintenance E&I Engineer provides technical expertise and hands-on maintenance for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems in a plant environment. You will lead maintenance activities including preventive, reactive, and shutdown work, ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment standards while driving operational reliability and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Deliver technical support to diagnose and resolve failures in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Systems, and Analyzer Equipment to maintain plant operations.
- Execute maintenance work adhering strictly to LOTO, isolation, and electrical safety procedures, including job scope preparation, risk assessments, planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Identify recurring equipment issues and implement reliability-focused solutions to enhance asset performance.
- Develop, review, and optimize preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance strategies for Electrical & Instrumentation assets.
- Troubleshoot and maintain motors, drives, switchgears, LV/MV distributions, circuit breakers, variable frequency drives, transformers, MCCs, UPS, sensors, control valves, PLC/DCS systems, analyzers, quality measuring equipment, fire alarms, site facilities equipment, and field instruments.
- Create and maintain a rolling two-week look-ahead maintenance schedule to ensure operational visibility and alignment across teams.
- Monitor schedule adherence and adjust plans proactively based on progress, constraints, or unforeseen issues.
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to confirm task readiness, resource availability, and risk mitigation prior to schedule publication.
- Collaborate closely with site maintenance resident contractors to plan and execute maintenance activities on instrumentation and electrical systems.
- Verify electrical safety compliance including grounding, insulation resistance, Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF/SIL), and equipment integrity through periodic inspections in coordination with statutory boards and internal teams.
- Supervise and perform hands-on Electrical & Instrumentation work during shutdowns, start-ups, and daily maintenance alongside plant E&I technicians.
- Ensure safety standards are upheld while monitoring and reporting plant availability and the health of E&I systems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration and service reports, and prepare daily/weekly maintenance reports capturing history in SAP work processes.
- Respond to call-out activities and perform extended hours work as required by site operations.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and failure investigations, implementing corrective actions based on findings.
- Apply Management of Change (MOC) processes and manage spare parts inventory effectively.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support plant maintenance objectives.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering within Specialty Chemical or Petrochemical manufacturing facilities.
- Proficiency with PLC/DCS systems, analyzers, and field instruments.
- Familiarity with SAP, Microsoft Office, and OEM software applications.
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance tools and reliability methodologies.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional, multicultural, and multinational teams.
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Well-developed interpersonal skills supporting teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
