Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and insightful Business Management and Economics Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction within the Middle Years and Diploma Programme, fostering a deep understanding of global markets, financial systems, and organizational behavior.

Teaching Duties

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach specialized classes in the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programme, acting as a subject matter expert for students.

  • Culture & Innovation: Engage with leadership, colleagues, and students to create a dynamic, aspirational, and innovative culture-a professional learning community grounded in collaboration and driven by data-informed decision-making.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with IB Coordinators to develop, implement, and deliver HWA's curricular goals, ensuring the Business Management and Economics departments are aligned with the school's strategic planning.

  • Differentiated Instruction: Tailor and target learning to meet students specific needs and aptitude levels, ensuring complex economic theories and business models are accessible to all learners.

  • Continuous Growth: Maintain a commitment to being an active, life-long learner within the fields of education and social sciences.

Non-Teaching Duties

  • Assessment Excellence: Be familiar with and adhere to all requirements for external examinations and internal assessments relevant to the Business Management and Economics curriculum.

  • Professional Engagement: Participate in professional duties outside the school day, including field trips, weekend professional development, and after-school meetings.

  • Supervision: Oversee duties during break, lunch, and other unstructured times.

  • Co-Curricular Leadership: Lead or coach an after-school CCA (co-curricular activity), potentially related to entrepreneurship or investment clubs.

  • Operational Support: Assist in internal substitution coverage and manage teaching materials and resources within the classroom or lab environment.

  • Committee Involvement: Contribute to school-wide continuous improvement by serving on assigned committees or work groups.

  • Pastoral Care: Fulfill homeroom teacher duties if assigned, supporting the holistic development of students.

Staff Professional Learning

  • Collaborative Practice: Promote a culture of shared expertise and ensure effective learning relationships across departments.

  • Mentorship: Support new colleagues by providing coaching and access to specialized learning resources, curriculum materials, and student learning data.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Management, Education, or a closely related field.

  • Experience: 2 to 3 years of professional experience as a Business Management and Economics Teacher or in a related educational role.

  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of curriculum development and pedagogical strategies.

  • Soft Skills: Possess highly developed interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
