Job Description

SCOPE

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Director of Public Relations & Marketing plans, directs, controls, coordinates and participates in all communication activities with an emphasis on public and media relations. He/She is responsible for enhancing the awareness of the Kempinski brand amongst target audiences as defined in the hotel's and group's strategic marketing and Public Relations plan. The incumbent will position and promote the hotel and its outlets as the market leader through marketing activities as well as to ensure compliance with the brand Kempinski.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop annual Public Relations and Marketing plan with specific goals and budget as outlined in the hotel's strategic marketing plan and the group's Public Relations and Marketing plan. Prepare roadmap to achieve goals, as well as update and adjust plans according to market situation and ensure the communications team is fully briefed on goals and progress.
  • Pitch, and secure local story placements for the hotel and on behalf of the Kempinski brand. Develop customized story pitches based upon media needs and handle reactive media relations in a timely manner and within 24 hours. Distribute newsworthy hotel press releases to local media, regional Public Relations offices and Corporate Public Relations for onward media distribution.
  • Create and organize appropriate press activities in accordance with the annual communications plan. Conduct press blitzes when appropriate.
  • Act as the official spokesperson for the hotel when appropriate and handle crisis media communications with support and guidance from Corporate communications.
  • Direct photography for editorial and advertising purposes in liaison with the Director of Sales & Marketing, advertising agency and corporate brand marketing.
  • Oversee the creation and production of all printed and digital collaterals for F&B, Marketing and Rooms divisions following the specifications stipulated in the Corporate Identity Manual.
  • Ensure hotel information is updated regularly on the intranet, kempinski.com, hotel's press room and relevant online publications.
  • Act as brand custodian for all internal and external communication pieces.
  • Develop social media strategies and messages for the year.
  • Work closely with F&B and Sales department to map out promotional activities for the year.
  • Maximize advertising budget by ensuring that the hotel's creative messages and media activities are consistent with the advertising of sister hotels and the Kempinski group advertising.
  • Identify partnership opportunities and develops co-partnership events/promotions to enhance hotel and brand awareness.
  • Pro-actively promote Rooms, Food and Beverage including Banquet/Conferences, or any other current or forthcoming activities which lead to potential sources of business.
  • Acts as brand custodian for hotel and Kempinski brand.
  • Keep informed on competition, industry benchmarks and follow up on market trends on a regular basis, while keep up to date with Marketing trends and tools to enhance the continual learning process and make recommendations to the Director of Sales & Marketing.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Min Degree in Marketing or Hospitality Management
  • Min 5 years in similar capacity
  • Copywriting skills
  • Experienced in developing and running Marketing campaigns and their analysis
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft office, creative programmes such as photoshop, indesign etc is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
