The Director of Investment Research is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the investment research across asset classes and strategies. The role sets research frameworks, ensures high-quality investment insights, and works closely with Portfolio Managers (PMs) and senior investment leadership to drive consistent, alpha-generating investment decisions.
This position plays a critical role in shaping investment views, portfolio construction inputs, and long-term investment strategy while maintaining rigorous governance and risk discipline.
Investment Research Leadership
Define research priorities, coverage universe, and analytical standards aligned with firm-wide investment objectives.
Establish and maintain a robust research process, including idea generation, due diligence, valuation methodologies, and post-investment review.
Investment Decision Support
Partner closely with Portfolio Managers to provide high-conviction investment ideas and risk-adjusted return insights.
Review and challenge investment theses to ensure disciplined decision-making and downside risk awareness.
Present research views, portfolio implications, and market outlooks to investment committees and senior management.
Strategy & Thought Leadership
Contribute to the development of medium- and long-term investment strategy and asset allocation perspectives.
Provide macroeconomic, sectoral, and thematic insights to support portfolio positioning.
Represent the investment team in internal forums and, where appropriate, to external stakeholders and clients.
Governance, Risk & Process
Ensure compliance with internal investment policies, regulatory requirements, and best-practice research governance.
Oversee documentation, approval, and monitoring of investment recommendations.
Collaborate with risk management, compliance, and operations teams to maintain strong investment controls.
Master's degree or PhD in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
Professional qualifications such as CFA strongly preferred.
10-15+ years of buy-side or high-quality sell-side investment research experience, with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
Strong track record of investment insight generation and contribution to portfolio performance.
Deep understanding of financial markets, valuation techniques, and risk management principles.
