About the Role

The Business Times (BT), Singapore's premier business daily, is looking for a creative and digitally-savvy graphic designer to create original content for our readers, enhancing our brand of storytelling. This role offers the opportunity to grow audiences for BT Global, which is BT's new international news platform. Designed to serve audiences across Asia and beyond, BT Global will deliver timely insights and smart analysis that speak to business leaders, investors, entrepreneurs and policymakers.

Key Responsibilities

The digital graphic designer will work with journalists and editors to craft original and engaging visuals for our website and social media platforms. He / She has an eye for aesthetics and a flair for storytelling through visuals. As data is pertinent in business stories, the designer should be able to present data in a way that is accessible, clear and enhances the value of the news content.

Key Qualifications / Skills

• Proficiency in Canva, Figma, Adobe CC (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects), HTML, CSS and JavaScript (d3.js, WebGL and Svelte are a plus).
• Proficiency with data visualisation and interactive web design platforms like Flourish or Datawrapper.
• Able to articulate ideas visually and translate data into visual charts, graphics and imagery
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Interest in economics, international news, business and finance topics
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work
• 2-5 years of experience preferred
• Prior experience in a data visualisation/visual storytelling role will be an advantage
• Degree or Diploma in relevant course in Visual Communications or similar qualification
