Job Description / Objective:
We are looking for an experienced DFM Engineer to support new product introduction (NPI) and production readiness by performing Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Fabrication (DFF), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Testability (DFT) analyses for PCB and PCBA designs.
The candidate will work closely with PCB designers, manufacturing, test, quality, and customers to identify design risks early and drive manufacturable, cost-effective, and high-yield solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform DFM / DFF / DFA / DFT reviews for PCB and PCBA designs during RFQ, NPI, and production phases
- Analyze PCB fabrication risks including:
- Review PCBA assembly aspects:
- Perform DFT checks:
- Test point accessibility
- ICT/ FCT coverage considerations
- Use DFM software tools to generate reports and recommendations (Any one of the following or equivalent): Valor, Vayo or similar
- Prepare clear DFM reports, track issues, and follow up on closure
- Interface with customers, PCB suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve DFM findings
- Support continuous improvement of DFM rules, checklists, and best practices
- Provide technical guidance during build issues and yield improvement activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 5-10 years of hands-on experience in DFM / DFF / DFA / DFT for PCB & PCBA
- Strong understanding of:
- PCB fabrication processes
- SMT/ THT assembly processes
- Test strategies (ICT, FCT)
- Practical experience using at least one commercial DFM software
- Familiar with IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-7351, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret Data sheets, schematics, PCB layouts, Gerber/ODB++ data
- Good communication skills to explain technical risks and recommendations
- Experience in EMS or high-mix manufacturing environment is a strong advantage
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of high-speed design, impedance control, and multi-layer board stack-ups.
- Experience working in an EMS or OEM product development environment.
- Understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes
