Role Overview
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to support the development and operations teams in building, deploying, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-availability systems. This role focuses on enabling efficient CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure, and ensuring system reliability across environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement DevOps practices and workflows
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration, deployment, and testing
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code tools
- Deploy, manage, and maintain containerised environments using platforms such as Kubernetes and OpenShift
- Monitor system performance and availability, including scripting for health checks and service monitoring
- Perform system deployments, backups, and routine maintenance activities
- Implement security best practices, including automated security hardening across environments
- Configure and manage load balancing, networking, and routing for scalable systems
- Support cloud-based infrastructure, including provisioning, orchestration, and auto-scaling
- Work in Agile environments with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable solutions
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (preferably GitLab CI/CD)
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
- Strong knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and orchestration concepts
- Experience in scripting or programming (Python, Java, or similar)
- Understanding of system monitoring, logging, and performance tuning
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, routing, load balancing)
- Understanding of IT security standards and practices (e.g. CIS benchmarks)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills (Optional)
- Experience with OpenStack or software-defined infrastructure
- Exposure to DevSecOps practices and security automation
- Experience with AWS CloudFormation or similar tools
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows system administration
- Understanding of hardware infrastructure (network devices, firewalls, routers)
