Design Manager

Job Description & Requirements

Responsible for technical drawings of more complex/large projects or oversees a team of drafters. Ensures that technical drawings are prepared according to time schedule and conform to specifications for construction

. Supervises and monitors the progress of shop drawings by team members for approval submission

.Ensures the understanding and compliance of drawings with standards and specifications

.Ensures understanding of project scope and requirements that impact accuracy of shop drawings

.Prepares shop drawings and necessary documentation submission to main contractors/architects, etc

.Prepares and updates status of shop drawing submission list for each project

.Highlights and discusses any discrepancies on items/materials with relevant parties

.Assists subordinates in the preparation of shop drawing details

.Co-ordinates and arranges structural and architectural inspections with consultants

.Prepares shop drawing schedule and submission to consultants for approval

.Attends site meetings, progress and design meetings to provide status updates and resolves design and other issues

.Works closely with project team members, clients and vendors to ensure timely completion of projects

.Monitors and coaches the performance of team members

.Promote steam spirit and ensures good morale exists among team members

.Any other duties as may be assigned
