Job Responsibilities
Job summary: The role is leading one of PIL's top strategic initiative in developing niche segments.
- Line management functions : product development (as a contributor), allocation management and cargo flow (for the segments he/she is in charge of), pricing, shadow P&L for the 2 segments Reefer and Special Cargo
- Commercial functions : business development focusing on PIL Top 15 countries, applying the Reefer target operating model and reefer and special cargo sales network animation (in partnership with PIL Regional Offices)
- Strategic Leadership and Direction:
- Elaborate and execute Global Reefer + Global Project Cargo business strategies for each trade, focusing on market growth, right cargo-mix and customer-mix, and enhanced financial outcomes.
- Provide Global Reefer + Global Project Cargo trade guidance to the front line teams, ensuring strategies are well understood and executed effectively, aligning with the company's objectives, values and strategy.
- Make decisive Global Reefer + Global Project Cargo rate policy and adjustment decisions, aligning them with the strategic and financial goals of the trades (Budget).
- Contribute to the regular and ad-hoc products design with Trade Network department
- Contribute actively to the investments in assets needed for the success of these niche segments with the Logistics Procurement department
- Financial Performance and Strategic Analysis:
- Responsible for the responsible Global Reefer + NOR + Global Project Cargo Trades shadow P&L.
- Based 2025 budget, the job scope entails all concerned service to achieve a total revenue of $221.2M and a total liftings of 122,941 Teus
- Use of data analytics and market intelligence to take the best strategic decisions, ensuring the trades services remain competitive and reach a financial outcome which is above the industry average.
- Sales / Operational Excellence and Market Expansion:
- Business development, present sales strategies/solution and operational plan for Global Reefer & Global Project Cargo customers.
- Lead market expansion efforts, driving customer diversification and exploring new Reefer + Project Cargo opportunities.
- Challenge status-quo and always seek improvement and more efficiency in terms of work process, product setup and customer expectation.
- Share & drive new ideas of business development (process, market development, new products etc.)
- Regular Interactions with
- Operations department (terminal procurement, liner operations)
- Logistics department (Reefer SOP's, Special Cargo SOP's, Telematics VAS, Forecasting, Costs Savings programs)
- Commercial Department (Country Commercial budget, KPI settings, people management, business processes)
- IT department (Quotations tool for special cargo, ERP improvements)
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime, Business, Logistics, or a related field
- Possess at least 10 years of extensive experience in shipping or freight forwarding industry, with a focus on reefer and/or special cargo customers and operations
- Proven track record of successfully managing and growing a reefer cargo division and/or a special cargo division, including P&L responsibility
- In-depth knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and industry best practices related to reefer cargo and/or special cargo
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to do regular travels to PIL Key reefer and special cargo markets and to attend specialized fairs
