Data Sourcing & Vendor Management Lead

A leading global investment platform is seeking a commercially minded Data Sourcing & Vendor Management Lead to help power multi-asset investment strategies through high-quality data acquisition and vendor partnerships.
This role sits at the intersection of investment research, data strategy, and commercial vendor management, identifying and onboarding both traditional and alternative datasets that support trading, risk management, and AI-driven workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and onboard traditional and alternative datasets from vendors, public sources, and niche providers.
- Run commercial trials and proof-of-concepts (POCs) to assess dataset value and applicability to investment strategies.
- Partner with portfolio managers, researchers, and engineering teams to align data sourcing with investment priorities.
- Lead commercial negotiations and contract renewals with data providers, including pricing, licensing, and usage rights.
- Manage ongoing vendor relationships, including performance monitoring and issue escalation.
- Maintain a catalogue and pipeline of datasets, tracking commercial terms, usage, and renewal timelines.
- Work closely with Compliance, Legal, and Data Governance to ensure appropriate licensing, access control, and regulatory alignment.
- Support audit and compliance processes related to data vendors and data usage.
- Stay close to evolving data trends within multi-asset hedge funds and the broader investment ecosystem.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years experience in data sourcing, vendor management, or data strategy within financial services.
- Manage BIPE licensing & commercials without support
- Experience working with multiple financial data providers across asset classes.
- Proven ability to assess dataset quality, coverage, uniqueness, and commercial value.
- Strong understanding of data licensing, compliance, privacy, and access controls.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating data vendor contracts and renewals.
- Commercial mindset with strong communication skills and the ability to operate in a fast-paced buy-side environment.
