Data Architect (High-Impact Role in a Global Investment Firm)
- Be a core architect driving a firm-wide data transformation
- Deep experience with Azure technologies is essential
- Experience in the buy-side industry is highly advantageous
A top-tier investment firm with a strong technology focus is looking for a Data Platform Architect to lead and be responsible for building highly scalable, resilient infrastructure using the latest in cloud and lakehouse technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of a modern data platform using cloud-native technologies (e.g., Azure, Databricks) and open data formats like Delta and Iceberg.
- Optimize compute, storage, and orchestration environments (e.g., Databricks clusters, Kubernetes) for performance, cost, and reliability.
- Collaborate with engineers and data scientists to build secure, efficient data pipelines supporting both batch and real-time processing.
- Use tools like Terraform or ARM templates to provision and manage infrastructure as code, enabling consistency and scalability.
- Integrate data lineage, metadata management, and access control mechanisms into platform design to ensure transparency and compliance.
- Evaluate emerging tools and best practices in data architecture, helping shape the long-term strategy for a future-proof, high-performance data ecosystem.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor&aposs or Master&aposs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in data architecture, platform engineering, or senior data engineering within data-rich environments.
- Deep hands-on expertise in Azure cloud services, Databricks, and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of data lakehouse architectures and open table formats (e.g., Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Parquet).
- Practical knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
- Solid grasp of distributed systems, data modeling, and scalable architecture design.
- Familiarity with streaming frameworks like Kafka or Spark Structured Streaming, and experience managing both batch ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical needs into clear, actionable strategies.
