SUMMARY

We are looking for a commercially astute and driven Cost & Contracts Manager to play a pivotal role in delivering complex shipbuilding projects in Batam. This is more than just a cost management role - it's an opportunity to be at the heart of a dynamic shipyard operation, where precision, strategy, and collaboration directly impact project success.

In this role, you will take ownership of end-to-end contract and cost management, from developing accurate project estimates to ensuring strict cost control throughout the build lifecycle. You should have good experience in shipbuilding or shipyard environments who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on setting and is confident managing contracts, negotiating terms, and navigating project complexities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contract Management & Negotiation
  • Develop and manage cost estimates and budgets for shipbuilding projects, including materials, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Monitor and control project costs, ensuring they remain within the established budget and scope.
  • Work closely with project managers, procurement, and engineering teams to gather accurate data for cost planning and tracking.
  • Perform detailed cost analysis, identifying cost drivers and areas for cost reduction or optimization.
  • Prepare regular cost reports and updates for senior management, providing insights into project financial health and forecasting potential overruns.
  • Review and analyze contract terms to ensure cost control mechanisms are in place and adhered to.
  • Track and report on change orders and variations in project scope, ensuring their impact on costs is accurately reflected.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender submissions by providing detailed cost breakdowns and estimating potential risks.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, company policies, and external regulations.
  • Identify and implement best practices for cost management and risk mitigation within the shipbuilding industry.
  • Conduct post-project cost analysis to evaluate performance and provide recommendations for future improvements.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to evaluate suppliers and subcontractors in terms of cost-effectiveness.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in Contract Management (within the Shipbuilding / Maritime / Shipyard sector)
  • Prior shipbuilding contract experience would be an advantage.
  • Ability to be based in Batam (Indonesia) is a must.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
