Construction Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee and coordinate construction activities for a major hospital project in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing site operations, coordinating subcontractors and project stakeholders, monitoring construction progress, and ensuring that works are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate daily construction activities at the project site.
• Plan and monitor construction works in accordance with the approved project programme and schedule.
• Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, site personnel, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
• Ensure construction works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
• Coordinate architectural, structural, M&E, and specialist construction works.
• Review construction drawings, technical documents, method statements, risk assessments, and work procedures.
• Monitor construction progress and report project status, delays, and site issues to the Project Manager.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, quality, safety, and progress.
• Ensure compliance with Singapore workplace safety requirements, statutory regulations, and project safety procedures.
• Identify construction risks and coordinate appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
• Coordinate site inspections, testing, commissioning, handover, and defect rectification works.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, manpower deployment, materials, equipment, and site resources.
• Liaise with consultants, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve technical and site coordination issues.
• Maintain proper site records, progress reports, inspection records, and other project documentation.
• Assist the Project Manager with project planning, procurement, cost control, variation works, and project administration.
• Attend site and progress meetings and provide updates on construction activities.
• Ensure that construction activities are completed according to the required quality, safety, cost, and schedule objectives.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Project Manager or Project Director.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Civil/Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Building, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant construction experience, preferably in large-scale building or infrastructure projects.
• Prior experience in hospital or healthcare construction projects is required.
• Good knowledge of construction methods, site management, project coordination, quality control, and workplace safety.
• Experience in managing subcontractors and coordinating multidisciplinary construction works.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedules.
• Knowledge of Singapore construction practices, statutory requirements, and workplace safety regulations.
• Good coordination, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple site activities effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
• Experience in hospital projects involving architectural, structural, M&E, specialist systems, testing & commissioning, and handover will be an advantage.
