Senior Construction Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and responsible Senior Construction Manager to oversee and manage construction activities for a major hospital project in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that construction works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day construction activities for the hospital project.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
• Supervise and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress and ensure construction activities are completed according to the approved programme and schedule.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager, consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and relevant authorities to resolve technical and site issues.
• Review construction drawings, technical submissions, method statements, risk assessments, and work procedures.
• Ensure that construction works comply with applicable Singapore building regulations, workplace safety requirements, quality standards, and project specifications.
• Monitor workmanship and quality of construction works and implement corrective measures where necessary.
• Identify potential construction issues, delays, and risks and coordinate appropriate mitigation measures.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings and provide updates to management.
• Manage site resources, manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractor performance.
• Coordinate testing, inspection, commissioning, handover, and defect rectification activities.
• Maintain proper project documentation, records, progress reports, and construction-related submissions.
• Support project cost control, variation works, procurement coordination, and project administration.
• Ensure effective coordination among architectural, structural, M&E, and other specialist works.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Project Director/Project Manager.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Civil/Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Building, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant construction management experience, preferably with experience in large-scale building or infrastructure projects.
• Prior experience in hospital or healthcare construction projects is required.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, project planning, site coordination, quality control, and construction safety.
• Experience managing subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and multidisciplinary site teams.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documents.
• Good knowledge of Singapore construction practices, statutory requirements, and workplace safety regulations.
• Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and effectively under project deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project scheduling, and construction/project management software.
• Candidates with experience in major hospital projects involving M&E coordination, medical facilities, specialist systems, testing& commissioning, and handover will be advantageous.
