Construction Manager (Institutional Project, A1 Main Con)

Our client is a leading A1 main contractor with robust capabilities in civil engineering and building construction. Recognised for reliable delivery and high standards, the firm partners closely with public sector stakeholders on complex assignments.

They are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead an institutional project integrating runway works, building components, and marine interfaces in the West.

Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage end to end construction across runway, building structures, and marine interface workfronts to meet safety, quality, and programme targets.
  • Site Logistics & Access: Plan and control site logistics, including shore/marine access, vessel/barge coordination, delivery scheduling, traffic flow, and staging/laydown zones.
  • Materials & Equipment: Oversee materials arrangement (storage layout, issuance, and flow to workfronts) and heavy equipment mobilisation, including marine delivery pathways.
  • Temporary Utilities: Arrange and supervise temporary utilities (e.g., power, water, and marine site services) for onshore and near shore work areas.
  • Manpower Planning: Allocate and manage manpower and subcontractors across multiple disciplines, ensuring efficient deployment and productivity.
  • Multidisciplinary Coordination: Coordinate and integrate civil, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and marine related works drive buildability, construction sequencing, and interface resolution.
  • Technical Control: Review drawings, method statements, shop drawings, and technical submissions provide practical construction guidance and ensure proper implementation.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to marine safety, environmental requirements, and aviation construction standards, alongside statutory and contractual obligations.
  • Risk & Progress Management: Identify risks early, troubleshoot site issues promptly, and track progress against programme with clear reporting and mitigation actions.
  • Culture & Performance: Champion a strong culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in runway, marine, infrastructure, or heavy civil projects with a main contractor.
  • Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and complex site operations.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in mixed land and marine environments and remote/near shore logistics.
