Construction Hoist Rigger Roles and Responsibilities

1. Install Hoist Systems

2. Inspect Equipment

3. Rigging Loads

   • Secure and balance loads safely using slings, hooks, chains, and other rigging equipment.

4. Operate Hoists

   • Operate hoists to move materials, tools, and personnel to different levels on a construction site safely and efficiently.

5. Follow Safety Regulations

   • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local regulations, and site-specific safety rules while working with hoists.

6. Maintenance and Repairs

   • Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and minor repairs on hoist equipment report major issues to supervisors.

7. Coordinate with Site Team

   • Communicate with site managers, crane operators, and other workers to coordinate lifting and material movement operations.

8. Load and Unload Materials

10. Monitor Hoist Operations

    • Keep a close eye on hoist operations, watching for unusual sounds, vibrations, or movement that may indicate a malfunction.

11. Emergency Preparedness

    • Be trained and ready to respond to hoist-related emergencies, including equipment failure or personnel incidents.

12. Documentation and Reporting

    • Maintain logs for inspections, maintenance, and operational activities as required by site management.

13. Training and Mentoring

    • Assist in training junior riggers or operators on safe hoist practices and proper rigging techniques.

14. Ensure Proper Load Distribution

    • Verify that loads are properly distributed to prevent tipping or overloading of the hoist.

15. Tool and Equipment Management

    • Ensure rigging tools and hoist accessories are properly stored, maintained, and available when needed.
