Job Description

SJ is seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Commercial Manager to lead our Roads & Highways division. This pivotal role is responsible for driving the commercial success of our projects, ensuring alignment with SJ's vision and values through effective commercial and collaborative leadership. The Commercial Manager will ensure optimal commercial management of all Roads & Highways projects and contribute significantly to overall group performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic commercial management to achieve SJ's vision and values through effective and collaborative leadership practices.
  • Ensure optimal commercial management of all Roads & Highways projects, driving strong financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Provide robust leadership to ensure optimal business and project performance, including effective resourcing, mobilization, engagement, retention, and professional development of team members.
  • Apply advanced project management principles to all assigned tasks, ensuring project deliverables meet required standards and are completed in a timely manner.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess at least 15+ years of relevant industry experience, demonstrating a consistent ability to:

  • Lead & Manage Teams: Inspire and manage diverse functional teams and significant projects, effectively developing and resourcing them for high performance and cohesion. Provide strong leadership, supervision, and coaching, managing by exception.
  • Drive Commercial Success: Consistently achieve and exceed business targets. Manage multi-disciplinary consulting business units with revenue over $5M and successfully oversee infrastructure projects exceeding $5M to budget and client specifications. Possess high-level commercial acumen and strategic planning skills, effectively identifying and allocating resources.
  • Build Relationships: Cultivate trusting and productive client relationships and engage key stakeholders to achieve exceptional project outcomes.
  • Communicate Effectively: Conduct board-level reporting and communicate proficiently with the Board and other key stakeholders. Proactively advise and guide staff and clients, representing SJ as a valuable project contributor.
  • Staff Management: Possess sound administrative skills and a proven record of successful staff management, including actively managing and driving performance in diverse teams. Exhibit strong leadership and motivational abilities, and effectively identify appropriate resourcing and skills development within the business unit
