Job Description

We are currently working with our client in the financial services and they are looking for an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join a technology team supporting highly available, business-critical infrastructure across data centers, corporate environments, and public cloud platforms.

This is a hands-on infrastructure engineering role covering cloud, servers, networking, virtualization, storage, backup, security, and disaster recovery. The successful candidate will have strong technical depth in at least one infrastructure domain, while being comfortable troubleshooting and managing integrated enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, operate, and maintain secure and highly available infrastructure across on-premises data centres, offices, and public cloud environments.
  • Administer Linux and Windows servers, virtualization platforms, storage infrastructure, backup solutions, and core enterprise services.
  • Configure and support routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, proxy servers, DNS, DHCP, WAN connectivity, and other network infrastructure.
  • Manage hybrid cloud environments, including cloud networking, routing, security controls, connectivity between data centres and cloud platforms, and infrastructure migration activities.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, capacity, and security, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, patching, maintenance, migrations, technology refreshes, and other infrastructure changes.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support, including incident response, troubleshooting, service restoration, and root cause analysis.
  • Implement infrastructure security measures including system hardening, secure configuration, vulnerability remediation, access controls, patch management, and security monitoring.
  • Support disaster recovery, business continuity, backup restoration, system failover, and infrastructure resilience testing.
  • Work closely with internal teams, technology vendors, cloud providers, telecommunications carriers, and external stakeholders to resolve incidents and deliver infrastructure projects.
  • Support security reviews, risk assessments, internal and external audits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance activities and provide after-hours support for critical production incidents when required.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering, preferably within a highly available, business-critical, or regulated environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in at least one core infrastructure area such as cloud, systems, networking, virtualization, or storage, with good knowledge across the wider infrastructure landscape.
  • Hands-on experience managing Linux and/or Windows Server environments.
  • Practical experience with virtualization, storage, backup, high availability, and disaster recovery technologies.
  • Experience deploying, operating, or migrating infrastructure within public cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, WAN connectivity, and network troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking, security controls, identity and access management, infrastructure monitoring, and data centre-to-cloud connectivity.
  • Good understanding of infrastructure security, including system hardening, vulnerability management, patch management, access control, security monitoring, and incident response.
  • Experience supporting production environments through structured incident, problem, change, and capacity management processes.
  • Exposure to infrastructure monitoring, configuration management, automation, or scripting is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of data centre operations, structured cabling, cross-connects, equipment installation, and telecommunications circuit management is preferred.
  • Experience within financial services, banking, exchanges, brokerage, clearing, or other regulated environments would be an advantage.
