Job Summary
You will lead culinary operations by preparing and managing Chinese cuisine plans, directing food preparation, and supervising kitchen staff to deliver high-quality dining experiences. You will drive menu innovation, control food and labor costs, and ensure compliance with nutrition, sanitation, and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Chinese cuisine plans to guide culinary activities and ensure consistent food quality
- Modify existing menus or create new menus that meet established quality standards and customer expectations
- Accurately estimate food requirements and calculate food and labor costs to optimize budget management
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff activities to maintain efficient and effective kitchen operations
- Manage recruitment, training, and performance of kitchen staff to build a skilled and motivated team
- Identify and resolve operational issues or customer complaints promptly to maintain service excellence
- Apply finishing techniques to prepared dishes to ensure presentation meets quality standards
- Perform administrative tasks including maintaining time and payroll records to support operational accuracy
- Ensure strict compliance with nutrition, sanitation regulations, and safety standards to uphold kitchen hygiene and safety
- Maintain a positive and professional working environment fostering collaboration with coworkers and customers
Required competencies and certifications
- Proven experience managing kitchen operations as a Head Chef
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong delegation skills to assign multiple tasks effectively among kitchen staff
- Effective communication and leadership skills to guide and motivate the culinary team
- Proficiency in cooking trends and best practices to innovate and maintain culinary excellence
- Working knowledge of computer software programs including MS Office, restaurant management software, and POS systems
- Bachelor of Science degree in Culinary Science or related certificate
