Role Description:The CFO, Finance Director, or Head of Finance is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for overseeing the financial operations and strategy of the organization. These roles involve managing financial planning, reporting, and analysis, as well as ensuring the company's financial health, profitability, and compliance with regulatory standards. The CFO/Finance Director/Head of Finance plays a critical role in supporting business decision-making, driving financial performance, and managing financial risks.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Lead the development and execution of the company's financial strategy in alignment with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO, executive team, and board of directors to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee long-term financial planning, including capital structure, debt management, and investment strategies.
- Develop and execute business strategies to optimize financial performance and create sustainable value for shareholders.
- Financial Management and Reporting:
- Direct the preparation of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and performance reports in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and manage the internal and external auditing process.
- Lead the implementation of effective financial controls to safeguard the organization's assets.
- Analyze financial results and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess financial health and operational efficiency.
- Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify and manage financial risks, including market, credit, operational, and liquidity risks.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP), and other legal requirements.
- Oversee the company's insurance and risk management strategies to protect assets and mitigate exposure to financial risks.
- Treasury and Cash Flow Management:
- Manage the company's cash flow, working capital, and liquidity, ensuring adequate capital for day-to-day operations and future investments.
- Oversee treasury functions, including banking relationships, investment management, and funding strategies.
- Manage financial relationships with investors, lenders, and other financial stakeholders.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide strategic guidance to senior finance managers, accountants, and analysts across the organization.
- Ensure the finance team has the skills and resources needed to support the company's growth and financial strategy.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for financial communication with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, analysts, and regulators.
- Present financial performance, forecasts, and strategic financial plans to the board of directors and senior leadership.
- Represent the company in meetings with external parties, including financial institutions, auditors, and investors.
Qualifications:- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (required).
- Master's degree (MBA) or equivalent professional qualifications such as a CPA, CFA, or ACCA (preferred).
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in finance, with a significant portion in senior leadership roles such as CFO, Finance Director, or Head of Finance.
- Proven track record of overseeing financial operations in a large or complex organization, with experience in corporate financial strategy, reporting, and risk management.
- Experience working closely with executive teams and boards of directors in decision-making processes.
- Strong understanding of financial systems, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
