Roles & Responsibilities
Job Summary:
As a Business Development Manager, you will play a vital role in promoting and selling construction electronics products and services. Your primary responsibilities will include visiting customers offices, gathering information on their fleet, company structure, upcoming projects, newbuilds, identify opportunities for sales and service. You will also engage new manufacturers and look for new products that Hostmost may promote in the future.
Responsibilities:
1. Familiarization:
- Be familiar with the products and services offered by dreams
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of shipping companies generally, and who to speak to regarding vessel management (SI, Vessel Manager, Fleet Manager, Purchaser, etc.)
- Understand shipping schedules with regards to new-builds,, special surveys, and retrofit
2. Customer Interactions:
- Regularly visit customers to present products dreams and services
- Gather necessary information about fleets, projects and opportunities
- Prepare presentations as needed to promote products and services
- Keep our customers well informed of the latest trends, technologies and regulations as needed
3. New Technology:
- Stay well informed of new regulations and the products / services associated with them.
- Stay well informed about new products from our leading manufacturers and their latest technologies.
- Keep informed about obsolete equipment and the most viable replacement on a case-by-case basis.
4. New Customers:
- Look for new customers in all areas of the constrcution machincal enginering industry including fishing, ferries, deep-sea, coastal, workboats, tugboats and more.
- Stay informed of industry trends with regards to mergers and acquisitions.
- Explore lines of business outside of dreams traditional products.
5. Education and Knowledge Sharing
- Keep our sales and service teams well informed of industry developments
- Verify payment details and follow up on outstanding payments as required.
6. Systems Utilization:
- Use M365 applications for communication with colleagues.
- Be familiar with Zendesk, NFC, MS Business Central, etc. to assist sales colleagues on a as needed basis in case of vacation and or sick days.
7. Industry Events:
- Attend conferences, trade shows and exhibitions as needed
- Accompany our manufacturing partners to meetings and events
- Attend technical workshops as needed
8. Other Duties as Required:
- Attend to urgent inquiries as required, which may include after hours support from time to time.
- Be a good team player - participate in team building and company events.
Skills:
- English proficiency is required for this position, as the role involves regular communication within the marine industry, where English is the primary language used.
- Understanding of constrcution electronics and/or civil industry.
- Customer-focused mindset, sense of logic and urgency.
