Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new business growth and expanding customer accounts within the manufacturing and engineering sector. This role focuses on identifying opportunities, managing key client relationships, and working closely with internal teams (engineering, quoting, and operations) to deliver competitive and accurate proposals.
Responsibilities:
1. Business Development& Sales Growth
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in target markets (e.g. electronics, industrial, automation, or engineering sectors).
- Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline to achieve revenue targets.
- Develop and implement strategies to attract new clients and expand the customer base.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitor activities.
2. Customer Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
- Act as the key point of contact for customer enquiries, RFQs, and project discussions.
- Understand customer requirements and translate them into actionable internal requests.
3. Market Development
- Conduct thorough research on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs.
- Develop and implement market entry strategies for new regions, industries, or customer segments.
- Launch targeted campaigns and initiatives to penetrate new markets.
4. Quotation & Proposal Coordination
- Work closely with the quoting and engineering teams to prepare accurate and competitive quotations.
- Ensure timely submission of RFQs and follow up with clients to secure business.
- Support negotiation of pricing, terms, and project scope.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with internal teams (quotation, procurement, production, and engineering) to ensure alignment on project requirements.
- Monitor project progress and ensure customer expectations are met.
6. Account Management &Expansion
- Grow existing accounts through upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
- Identify long-term partnership opportunities with key customers
7. Reporting &Performance Tracking
- Track sales performance, pipeline status, and key account activities.
- Provide regular updates and reports to management.
Pre-requisites:
- Diploma or Degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing or related field.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within manufacturing / engineering industry.
- Strong understanding of RFQ process, costing, and technical products.
- Good communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
