We're thrilled to announce the opening for the Business Development Director, APAC role, reporting to the President of Asia Pacific The Business Development Director is supporting the President Asia Pacific and the APAC senior leadership team in achieving strategic goals and driving commercial excellence. This position involves defining strategic initiatives and roadmaps, identifying and developing new business opportunities, and ensuring the efficient execution of key regional business projects. The role demands a strong strategic mindset, commercial acumen, and the ability to translate market insights into actionable business strategies.
The Asia Pacific region is particularly complex from an operational point of view with 5 clusters & 14 markets that are very different from a consumer, category, and channel perspective. The routes to market are also very diverse with 8 subsidiaries, 5 joint ventures with Diageo, and 1 distributor market.
How you will contribute...
Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Develop and refine the region's strategic plans and long-term strategic goals in collaboration with the President and the executive team.
- Lead the strategic planning process, incorporating thorough market analysis, competitive analysis, and strategic initiative identification.
- Prepare and coordinate materials for budget planning and performance monitoring (e.g., budget/PMT decks).
- Track and monitor the progress of the SOAR strategic & transformation initiatives.
- Partner with functional leaders (e.g., HR, Finance, Operations, IT) to identify capability gaps, streamline processes, and optimize operating models.
Business Development:
- Identify and evaluate potential business opportunities, RTMs (Route to Market), and partnerships.
- Develop comprehensive business cases, feasibility studies, and financial models for new initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the successful execution of new business initiatives and strategic partnerships.
Market & Competitive Intelligence:
- Lead the regional Consumer Insights & Business Intelligence team, ensuring delivery of high-impact, data-driven market perspectives.
- Conduct and synthesize deep market, consumer, and competitive analyses to inform strategy, guide resource allocation, and uncover white space opportunities.
- Anticipate and assess external shifts-industry trends, consumer behaviors, macroeconomic and regulatory changes-and translate them into proactive strategic actions.
Regional & Transversal Leadership:
- Oversee and coordinate the regional marketing function across APAC, ensuring strategic coherence, brand alignment, and operational excellence.
- Management of the regional committees - Comex, Regional Operation Committees, Compliance Committees, JV committees
- Lead cross-functional and cross-market initiatives, fostering collaboration, consistency, and innovation across regional business units.
- Design and implement clear project governance, detailed execution plans, and performance milestones to ensure timely delivery and measurable impact.
Communication & Liaison
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the President, providing insights for informed decision-making and operational management
- Facilitate effective communication between the President and other executives, departments, and external stakeholders to drive regional agenda forward
- Organize and prepare for executive meetings, including agenda setting, and follow-up
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, with at least 3 years experience within a strategic position or consulting firm.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful business strategies that drive revenue growth and market expansion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, develop actionable insights, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects effectively, work within tight deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, balance short-term needs with long-term strategic initiatives, and drive results.
- Excellent leadership, communication (notably across geographies), and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and matrixed environment.
- High level of proficiency in financial modeling, market research methodologies, and strategic analysis tools.
