Stick Em is a Singapore-based STEAM education social enterprise creating affordable chopstick-based kits that teach engineering, coding, and design thinking to children aged 7 to 16. Used in 400+ schools across 15 countries, reaching 40,000+ students globally.
Job Summary
You will open new markets, build partnerships, and close deals to expand Stick Em's reach, enabling millions of children worldwide to access hands-on STEAM education through schools, distributors, and governments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth market research online and on-site to identify opportunities and challenges in assigned markets
- Identify, pitch to, and secure agreements with distributors to expand product reach
- Develop and nurture distributor relationships to ensure sustained sales performance and alignment with Stick Em's mission
- Engage with education ministries and government agencies to create demand and demonstrate product value for schools
- Organize and coordinate product demos, workshops, and events for schools, ministries, and partners to showcase Stick Em's offerings
- Communicate effectively via email, phone, and in-person meetings with school officials, government representatives, and partners to represent Stick Em's educational vision
- Navigate and manage the complex dynamics between governments, schools, and distributors to achieve business goals
- Manage specific markets based on language skills, networks, and cultural fit, focusing on targeted countries including Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Brunei, India, Kazakhstan, Taiwan, Philippines, Thailand, and Nepal
- Travel internationally multiple times a year to support market development and relationship building
Required competencies and certifications
- Engineering background to understand and credibly explain the product's technical aspects to buyers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders including officials, principals, and partners
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience in business consulting or similar roles demonstrating hunger for discovery and execution
- Proficiency in languages spoken across target markets to enhance communication and cultural alignment
- Existing networks within target markets including distributors, schools, and education ministries
- Experience conducting demos or workshops, or a background in edtech or education
