Job Description

We invite applications for the critical role of AVP/VP, Credit & Risk within our rapidly expanding financial institution in Singapore. This pivotal position offers a unique opportunity to significantly influence the organization's risk profile and directly support our strategic expansion within the competitive Singaporean financial sector. We seek a highly seasoned, proactive, and analytical professional to spearhead the formulation, deployment, and oversight of comprehensive credit and risk frameworks across our varied product suite.

Job Responsibilities

1. Credit Risk Management

  • Lead the underwriting team responsible for credit assessment and decision-making for SME clients.
  • Develop, enhance, and implement comprehensive credit policies, robust underwriting standards, and formalized approval frameworks.
  • Review and authorize credit proposals in accordance with delegated authority; submit larger exposure requests to the Credit Committee for recommendation and approval.
  • Oversee meticulous borrower due diligence, encompassing detailed financial analysis, scrutiny of bank statements, and comprehensive credit bureau assessments.
  • Establish the credit appetite, define concentration limits, and determine risk-adjusted pricing methodologies.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality credit decisions, balancing risk management with business objectives.
  • Utilize data-driven tools, scorecards, and alternative data sources to enhance risk assessment accuracy and efficiency.

2. Portfolio and Risk Monitoring

  • Institute effective credit monitoring procedures to systematically track borrower performance, analyze repayment trends, and identify potential early warning indicators.
  • Conduct regular portfolio stress testing, perform rigorous scenario analysis, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Supervise the management of Non-Performing Loans (NPLs), formulate restructuring strategies, and direct recovery actions as necessitated.
  • Monitor prevailing industry and macroeconomic risks that may adversely influence portfolio quality.

3. Regulatory Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure strict adherence to all relevant Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) regulations (e.g., requirements pertaining to Expected Credit Loss (ECL), and the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP)).
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive, periodic risk reports to senior management, board committees, and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain meticulous, audit-ready documentation to satisfy regulatory requirements and internal control standards.

4. Leadership and Stakeholder Management

  • Lead and mentor the credit and risk team to consistently strengthen analytical capabilities and enhance the quality of decision-making.
  • Collaborate strategically with business development units to maintain an optimal balance between risk appetite and strategic growth objectives.
  • Serve as the representative for the Risk and Credit function in the Credit Committee and all senior management forums.
  • Proactively champion a robust, risk-aware culture across the entire organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (Finance, Accounting, or Economics mandatory) with min. 10 years progressive experience in credit risk management at established FIs, banks, or reputable fintech lending platforms.
  • Strong technical knowledge of specialized lending (SME, trade finance, invoice financing, working capital).
  • Familiarity with MAS frameworks and credit risk methodologies (ICAAP, stress testing, portfolio analytics).
  • Proven leadership managing teams and influencing key stakeholders (internal/external).
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Strategic outlook coupled with deep risk management expertise.
  • Highly proficient in financial analysis and sophisticated credit structuring.
  • Highly effective communication and professional presentation skills.
  • Ability to reconcile commercial growth with prudent risk management; unwavering integrity, governance, compliance, and transparency commitment.
