Role Summary:
The Automation Systems Engineer is responsible for providing technical oversight, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment within the Rapid API system. This role ensures reliable and precise operations, develops staff expertise, and enhances site capabilities to support both R&D and manufacturing objectives.
Rapid API is a next-generation robotic and programmable platform that automates end-to-end chemical processing - from precise material dispensing and intelligent reaction control to advanced real-time analytics. By integrating robotics, programming, and smart data systems, it delivers reproducibility, ensures compliance, and accelerates API development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Build & Commissioning
- Assemble, install, and commission new equipment within the Rapid API system.
- Integrate automation and robotic modules with control platforms (Lab-to-Lab) to ensure seamless operation and data connectivity.
- Configure automated workflows for precise material handling, reaction control, and real-time monitoring.
2. Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, monitoring equipment performance to maximize reliability and efficiency.
3. Process Support & Operations
- Provide technical support for DOE (Design of Experiments) and process campaigns with accuracy and consistency.
- Ensure all operations adhere to GMP, safety, and quality standards.
4. Training & Knowledge Transfer
- Train staff on advanced equipment operation and best practices.
- Develop and sustain internal technical expertise to strengthen overall site capabilities.

- Advance plant capabilities and promote operational excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support scale-up, technology transfer, and R&D initiatives, driving innovation, reproducibility, and accelerated API development.
