Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Director to lead the definition and execution of the organisation's end-to-end technical strategy across its platforms and products. This role is responsible for shaping the overall architecture, technology roadmap, and engineering standards to ensure all solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with business objectives.
As the organisation's senior technical authority, you will partner closely with leadership, customers, and technology partners to drive solution success, while overseeing engineering excellence, governance, and delivery outcomes across complex programmes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Strategy & Architecture
- Own and define the end-to-end technical architecture across platforms and solutions
- Develop and maintain enterprise technology roadmaps, reference architectures, and technical standards
- Evaluate, approve, and guide adoption of new and emerging technologies
- Ensure architectural alignment with business strategy and long-term growth objectives
2. Engineering Governance & Quality
- Establish and enforce engineering standards, frameworks, and best practices
- Lead technical design reviews for strategic bids and large-scale projects
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data protection, and relevant regulatory requirements
- Drive system reliability, scalability, performance, and maintainability
3. Project & Delivery Oversight
- Provide technical leadership for complex, large-scale, and mission-critical initiatives
- Manage technical risks, dependencies, escalations, and architectural issues
- Ensure delivery governance over scope, cost, timelines, and technical quality
- Oversee seamless transition from project delivery to operational support
4. Pre-Sales & Customer Engagement
- Serve as technical authority in pre-sales, tendering, and solutioning activities
- Lead the design of complex, high-value technical solutions for strategic opportunities
- Engage and influence customers, consultants, and executive stakeholders on technical matters
- Present, justify, and defend solution architectures at senior leadership level
5. Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop architects, technical leads, and engineering teams
- Build long-term technical capability, competency frameworks, and succession pipelines
- Foster a culture of innovation, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement
- Drive standardisation and reuse to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and optimise cost
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Computer, Systems, or related discipline)
- Master's degree will be an advantage
- Minimum 15 years of experience in systems integration, enterprise platforms, or large-scale technical environments
- Proven track record in leading complex, multi-disciplinary engineering programmes
- Strong expertise in several of the following areas:
- Enterprise / infrastructure platforms
- IT/OT integration and network architecture
- Cloud and data platforms
