Job Description

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in driving sales performance, developing the team and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the store.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced retail professional who combines strong personal selling skills with customer development, team support and commercial awareness, and who is ready to progress into full store management.

Key Responsibilities

• Achieve individual and store sales targets
• Deliver excellent customer service and lead by example on the sales floor
• Build and maintain relationships with VIP and regular customers
• Develop proactive CRM activities, customer follow-ups and appointments
• Support monthly sales budgeting and translate targets into weekly action plans
• Monitor daily and weekly sales performance and identify areas for improvement
• Support sales planning by brand, product category, staff member and customer segment
• Assist in setting and reviewing individual staff sales targets
• Coach, motivate and support Sales Associates and Senior Sales Associates
• Participate in regular one-on-one performance and development discussions with team members
• Support staff roster planning according to business and manpower requirements
• Take responsibility for store operations when the Store Manager is unavailable
• Lead day-to-day store operations where assigned
• Analyse customer feedback and convert observations into practical sales actions
• Monitor neighbouring and competing brands, including promotions, pricing, products and customer traffic
• Maintain high standards of customer service, grooming, store presentation and Visual Merchandising
• Manage stock replenishment, stocktaking, inventory control and stock accuracy
• Support promotional events, new product launches and brand activities
• Liaise with department-store management and relevant business partners when required
• Support weekly and monthly management reporting
• Ensure compliance with Company procedures and department-store requirements
• Perform other reasonable operational and management duties as assigned

Job Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of retail experience
• Experience as a Senior Sales Associate, Supervisor, Team Leader or Assistant Store Manager preferred
• Previous Store Manager experience is not required
• Experience in fashion, sports, lifestyle, premium or luxury retail preferred
• Strong personal selling and customer-service skills
• Experience building relationships with VIP and regular customers
• Good understanding of CRM and proactive customer development
• Strong leadership potential and willingness to coach other team members
• Commercially minded and comfortable working with sales targets and performance figures
• Proactive, self-motivated and willing to take ownership
• Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Organised, responsible and attentive to detail
• Good communication skills with customers, colleagues and management
• Willingness to learn budgeting, reporting, rostering and people management
• Able to work independently and take responsibility for the store when required
• Comfortable working a rotating retail roster, including some weekends and public holidays
• Fluent English Mandarin or another relevant language is an advantage

Career Development

This role is designed as a potential pathway to Store Manager.

Strong performers who demonstrate the required sales, commercial, operational and leadership capabilities may be considered for promotion to Store Manager within 12 months, depending on performance and business requirements.

Diploma in Retail, Business or a related discipline is an advantage, but not essential. Relevant retail experience and demonstrated leadership capability will be given greater consideration.
