Job Description

The Assistant Manager supports the Head of Finance in managing day-to-day finance operations, statutory compliance, and management reporting. The role ensures timely and accurate financial results, strengthens internal controls, and provides analytical support to management for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the month-end closing process and prepare financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance against budget/forecast.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including preparation of reports and analysis.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and other external stakeholders on statutory and compliance matters.
  • Implement and strengthen internal controls, ensuring adherence to financial policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and guide junior staff, providing coaching and support in daily operations.
  • Participate in process improvement projects and system enhancements to improve efficiency.
  • Support ad-hoc management reporting and business analysis as required.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • Professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CA) in an advantage
  • Minimum 4-7 years relevant working experience in accounting/finance
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and financial systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Able to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle multiple priorities
  • Leadership skills with experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
