The Assistant Manager supports the Head of Finance in managing day-to-day finance operations, statutory compliance, and management reporting. The role ensures timely and accurate financial results, strengthens internal controls, and provides analytical support to management for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the month-end closing process and prepare financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance against budget/forecast.
- Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
- Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including preparation of reports and analysis.
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and other external stakeholders on statutory and compliance matters.
- Implement and strengthen internal controls, ensuring adherence to financial policies and procedures.
- Supervise and guide junior staff, providing coaching and support in daily operations.
- Participate in process improvement projects and system enhancements to improve efficiency.
- Support ad-hoc management reporting and business analysis as required.
Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CA) in an advantage
- Minimum 4-7 years relevant working experience in accounting/finance
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting
- Proficiency in MS Excel and financial systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Able to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle multiple priorities
- Leadership skills with experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
