We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced
Assistant Manager (Project / Construction) to support the successful execution of construction projects in Singapore. This role is responsible for driving project delivery excellence through effective planning, coordination, safety, quality, cost control, and stakeholder management in line with the PDCA (PlanDoCheckAct) cycle.
Responsibilities
- Execute projects to achieve customer satisfaction by applying the PDCA project management approach
- Develop and implement comprehensive project construction schemes, including quality, safety, and environmental plans
- Prepare and manage the master construction schedule, project budget, risk registers, and mitigation plans
- Develop and maintain key project documentation, including ISO Quality Plan, OSHA Safety Plan, and compliance records
- Review and ensure adherence to project contract conditions, specifications, authorities codes of practice, and client in-house requirements
- Plan, organize, and control site work schedules in coordination with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Manage overall project performance in terms of schedule, cost, quality, and safety to achieve or improve upon original budget targets
- Implement approved installation methodologies and introduce innovative or enhanced construction methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Establish strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors from project commencement through completion
- Negotiate project variations with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to achieve commercially favorable outcomes
- Coordinate closely with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure full compliance with safety, quality, and environmental requirements
- Drive effective site communication by establishing clear reporting lines, daily coordination processes, and structured information flow
- Proactively identify and resolve site issues, risks, and constraints to minimize disruptions to progress
- Educate site staff on project construction schemes, safety standards, and work methodologies
- Identify skills gaps within the team and implement corrective actions through coaching, mentoring, and training
- Guide, mentor, and train junior staff to build a strong and competent project team
- Motivate site personnel and foster a collaborative and positive working environment
- Participate in continuous professional development through on-the-job training, seminars, and management skill enhancement programs
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of relevant managerial experience in construction or engineering projects
- Strong knowledge of local codes of practice and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with ISO management systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
- Possession of Building Construction Safety Supervisor (BCSS) certification
- Strong leadership, coordination, and implementation capabilities across multiple disciplines
- Meticulous, responsible, and results-driven with strong ownership of project outcomes
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Highly motivated, proactive, and capable of working in a fast-paced project environment
