Job Scope
This executive leadership position is responsible for the dual mandate of driving growth within the specialized project cargo sector and spearheading cross-functional commercial initiatives.
The role will lead a high-performing team to optimize profitability across major trade routes, acting as the primary architect for both niche cargo strategies and value-added service integration.
Core Responsibilities
- Define and implement multi-trade business strategies to maximize market share and optimize the customer/cargo mix.
- Manage pricing strategies and yield management to ensure alignment with global financial targets.
- Provide mentorship and direction to ensure regional teams execute on the broader corporate vision.
- Assume full accountability for the financial performance (P&L) of the assigned trade portfolios.
- Monitor market trends to ensure service offerings remain competitive while consistently exceeding industry-standard margins.
- Lead the pursuit of new business opportunities, focusing on client diversification and entering untapped specialized cargo markets.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, challenging existing workflows to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Direct all trade matters, including budgetary oversight, asset/equipment planning, and the implementation of organizational change projects.
- Establish a balance for cargo selection, utilizing data-driven reporting to optimize routing and contribution margins..
- Coordinate with product development teams to define value propositions and drive the sales pipeline for non-freight revenue streams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline.
- More than 10 years of progressive leadership experience within a global shipping line or major freight forwarder, with a heavy emphasis on trade management.
- Proven track record in P&L ownership, strategic pricing, and managing complex, cross-functional stakeholder environments.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence at the C-suite level.
