The Assistant Director, HR Technology & Operations is a senior individual who owns the direction and day-to-day excellence of Workday as a HRIS platform across the organization. You will manage a small team in driving efficiency, data quality, and automations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Platform Management & Continuous Improvement
- Manage the day-to-day operation of Workday, maintaining system stability, data integrity, and configuration standards across all markets
- Conduct regular reviews of existing configurations, identifying opportunities to simplify or retire them as Workday's native functionality evolves
- Manage the biannual Workday release cycle, including impact assessment, regression testing, and communication to stakeholders
- Support future country rollouts, drawing on established processes from prior expansions
- Provide input into the broader Workday roadmap.
2. Automation & Process Efficiency
- Identify process improvement opportunities across the employee lifecycle and work with relevant teams to implement them
- Ensure automation workflows are documented, monitored, and kept current as business processes change
3. AI & Emerging Tools
- Stay current on Workday's AI capabilities and other HR-relevant tools, and surface practical opportunities for adoption
- Support the evaluation and testing of AI possibilities and help build team familiarity with tools that improve day-to-day efficiency
- Ensure any AI or new tool adoption is handled in line with the company's data privacy and compliance requirements
4. Data Integrity, Reporting & Compliance
- Accountable for the accuracy and integrity of HR data in Workday
- Build and maintain a core suite of reports
- Support internal audit, access recertification, and data protection processes as the HR system owner
- Oversee integrations and maintain appropriate testing and change control protocols
5. HR Operations
- Oversee the HR Operations team in delivering core employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and data maintenance, across all markets
- Set and maintain process standards and SOPs, ensuring consistent and compliant execution
- Manage self-service resources, keeping documentation current and accessible across markets
- Serve as an escalation point for Workday-related issues, including case management with Workday Support
6. Team Leadership
- Provide clear direction, manage performance, and support the growth of each team member
- Foster cross-training and knowledge sharing within the team to reduce single points of failure
Qualifications/Requirements:
Essential
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 10 years of progressive HR Operations and/or HR Technology experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Demonstrable Workday expertise as a hands-on platform owner or senior administrator; Workday certification(s) are a strong advantage
- Experience managing or evolving a Workday environment
- Experience with HR process automation and a demonstrated appetite for expanding automation coverage
- Working knowledge of AI tools relevant to HR workflows and productivity
- Strong understanding of HR data governance, payroll integrations, compliance reporting, and cross-functional system dependencies
- Experience operating across multiple countries
Preferred
- Workday Pro certification in one or more modules
- Experience contributing to HR system country rollouts
- Familiarity with Workday Extend or adjacent HR technology platforms
