We are seeking an experienced Business Consultant / AS400 Technical Lead with strong domain expertise in the Securities and Banking sector to support architecture and application assessment for a leading securities firm with operations in Hong Kong and Singapore.
About the Role
The AS400 Technical Lead will be responsible for leading the design, development, and support of AS400-based banking applications. This role ensures system stability, performance, and regulatory compliance while delivering robust and scalable technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of AS400 applications using RPG, RPGLE, and COBOL400
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and conduct code reviews
- Design, manage, and optimize DB2 databases on the AS400 platform
- Collaborate with business and banking stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Ensure application performance, security, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolution
- Support application enhancements, upgrades, and maintain technical documentation
Required Skills & Experience
- 6 to 9 years of experience in AS400 development using RPG and Control Language (CL)
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant IT field
- Experience with Silverlake/AS400 loan systems in banking or financial services
- Strong proficiency in DB2, data structures, and file handling on AS400
- Solid problem-solving and debugging skills
- Experience with SDLC methodologies and change management processes
- Working knowledge of SQL
- Experience with Aldon / Arcad for deployment automation
- Familiarity with SFTP for secure file transfers
- Experience with MQ for inter-system communication
- Exposure to Direct Connect and external system integrations
- Understanding of release management and version control
- Experience in quality assurance and testing support
- Knowledge of Control-M
