Job Description

Working Hour

  • Weekdays from Mondays to Fridays: 08.30am to 4.30pm during school term including a lunch break of 30 minutes.
  • During the school holidays, you are required on the specific dates to conduct school holiday ASPIRE Programme or to support students who require additional supervision, subject to the school arrangement
  • Service may be required on weekends and gazetted public holidays if there are any external performances or learning journeys.


Requirement

  • Diploma in Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related field or a relevant qualification It is also preferred for the Youth Worker to have relevant experience:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with children in educational or community settings
  • Experience in conducting MOE programmes or school-based interventions
  • Familiarity with local community resources and referral pathways
  • Registered with MOE

General Duties

  • Report to the school's Student Development Team (SDT) and work under the supervision of the HOD/Student Management, Year Heads, and other designated school personnel.

  • Adhere to school protocols regarding student welfare, safety, and confidentiality.

Student Outreach, Mentoring & Engagement

  • Conduct proactive student engagement during non-curriculum periods (recess, lunch breaks, after-school hours).

  • Build positive relationships with primary school students to promote an inclusive environment and school connectedness.

  • Observe student interactions and behaviours support students with socio-emotional needs as identified by the school.

  • Escalate any concerns regarding student welfare or behaviour to the relevant school personnel (HOD/SM, YHs, SH/SM) according to school protocols.

Management of A.S.P.I.R.E Room

  • Open and close the A.S.P.I.R.E Room during recess, after school hours, and stipulated school holiday periods.

  • Ensure the cleanliness, upkeep, and maintenance of the room and its assets.

  • Supervise students using the room to ensure a safe and conducive environment.

  • Collaborate with A.S.P.I.R.E teachers to create leadership opportunities for students in managing the room.

  • Carry out other duties related to the management of the A.S.P.I.R.E Room as assigned by the school.

Programme Planning & Facilitation

  • Support the A.S.P.I.R.E programme by working with the SDT and A.S.P.I.R.E teachers to plan, enact, monitor, and evaluate the programme.

  • Coordinate with external partners to curate, design, and implement age-appropriate after-school activities aligned with the Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) framework.

  • Independently design and implement activities when external partners are unavailable.

  • Facilitate activities encompassing character development, social-emotional learning, recreational sports, creative arts, and leadership development.

  • Ensure all activities comply with MOE safety guidelines and school policies.

  • Maintain attendance records and adapt programmes to meet the diverse learning needs and backgrounds of students.

  • Conduct regular programme evaluations and collect feedback to assess programme effectiveness.

Resource & Inventory Management

  • Maintain and manage inventory of programme resources (sports equipment, educational materials, craft supplies, etc.).

  • Conduct regular stock checks and ensure proper storage and maintenance of equipment.

  • Prepare activity materials in advance.

  • Maintain accurate records of resource usage.

  • Coordinate with the school's administration team for procurement of items.

Deliverables & Reporting

  • Assist the SDT in preparing individualized A.S.P.I.R.E reports for each student semestrally.

  • Prepare monthly activity reports documenting student attendance and engagement levels.

  • Prepare termly programme evaluation reports with analysis of student feedback.

  • Prepare termly reports on students regarding socio-emotional needs, family, or behavioural issues.

  • Prepare semi-annual inventory reports.

  • Prepare incident reports based on school protocols when required.
