We're looking for a warm, energetic English mentor to join our growing team and work with our youngest learners - Primary and Lower Secondary students (ages 7-14). You'll deliver engaging 1:1 English sessions in students homes, building strong foundations in reading, writing, comprehension, and confidence.
This isn't just tutoring. You'll be a consistent, trusted figure in each child's learning journey - someone who makes English exciting, builds real skills, and supports their emotional well-being along the way.
This role is ideal if you love working with children, have a gift for making language come alive, and want to grow within a structured, well-supported mentorship programme - with a clear pipeline of students waiting for you.
Deliver exceptional 1:1 English mentoring for Primary and Lower Secondary students (P1-Sec 2), primarily in their homes
Build strong foundations in reading comprehension, creative writing, grammar, vocabulary, and oral communication
Design engaging, age-appropriate sessions that keep young learners motivated and curious
Track each student's progress and adapt your approach to their unique learning style and pace
Create a safe, supportive learning environment where students feel confident to make mistakes and grow
Communicate clearly with parents on progress, milestones, and recommended next steps
Participate in ongoing curriculum training and professional development with the Scholars Hall team
Experience working with children aged 7-14 in tutoring, teaching, or a similar educational setting
Strong command of English - grammar, comprehension, writing, and vocabulary
Patient, warm, and genuinely enjoys working with younger children
Creative and resourceful in making lessons engaging and age-appropriate
Excellent communication skills - with both students and parents
Comfortable travelling to students homes (travel allowance provided)
Comfortable being featured in events and social media as part of representing the programme
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field
MOE teaching experience or NIE training
Experience with phonics, guided reading, or structured literacy approaches
Familiarity with the MOE English syllabus (Primary and/or Lower Secondary)
Background in child psychology, early childhood education, or special educational needs
Track record of helping young students build confidence and improve grades consistently
Experience with creative or enrichment-based English programmes
