Job Summary

Lead and manage site safety teams and subcontractors to implement and uphold company safety systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a safe work environment in building and construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the site safety team and subcontractors to implement company safety systems, ensuring compliance and effective risk management
  • Collaborate with site operations staff and project managers to address safety and health issues, driving proactive safety solutions
  • Supervise and promote safe conduct on site by identifying and rectifying unsafe work environments and practices
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to detect hazards and perform safety gap analyses to improve workplace safety
  • Assist in reporting and investigating accidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence
  • Facilitate tool-box meetings to communicate safety updates and reinforce safety culture among workers
  • Support safety planning and incident prevention initiatives to minimize workplace risks
  • Assist in preparing for and participating in ISO OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001 audits to maintain certification standards
  • Liaise with government agencies, insurance companies, and auditors to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Perform any other duties required under the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act

Required competencies and certifications

  • MOM registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO)
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in building and construction safety management

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Proficient knowledge of ISO OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001 standards
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage across departments and functions
  • In-depth knowledge of construction industry activities and safety requirements
