Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO)

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess potential risks arising from workplace operations and work processes.

• Recommend and implement practical measures to eliminate or control workplace hazards.

• Develop and enforce safe work procedures in accordance with WSH regulations.

• Conduct routine site inspections and safety audits across construction sites.

• Inspect machinery, equipment, installations, and site facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards.

• Review and verify safety documentation including certificates, permits, and inspection records.

• Monitor environmental factors such as noise, illumination, heat and hazardous substances affecting workers.

• Investigate accidents, dangerous occurrences and occupational illnesses and recommend corrective actions.

• Support management in promoting EHS awareness through safety campaigns, training programs and initiatives.

• Participate as a member of the Risk Management Team to review and enhance Risk Assessments.

• Conduct Safety Induction Training for new workers and subcontractors.

• Manage subcontractor safety implementation and ensure compliance with company safety standards.

• Review and approve subcontractor safety plans, work procedures and risk documentation.

• Prepare and submit weekly inspection reports, warning notices and monthly safety reports.

• Participate in monthly WSH compliance inspections with site management.

• Organize emergency response drills and toolbox meetings to improve safety readiness.

• Oversee all other WSH-related matters within the project site.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2+ years experience in construction site safety management

• Strong knowledge of WSH Act and relevant regulations from MOM, NEA, SCDF, BCA and HDB

• Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) with Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

• Strong enforcement and intervention capability on site safety matters

• Able to work independently and exercise sound professional judgement

• Good communication with workers, supervisors and project stakeholders

• Possess own vehicle to work is added advantages.
