Job Summary
Support the Safety Manager in implementing and monitoring safety, health, environmental, and welfare measures to ensure project compliance with statutory and safety requirements in the construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Safety Manager in managing all safety, health, environmental, and welfare matters to ensure project compliance with statutory obligations and safety standards
- Implement and monitor safety measures in accordance with the Workplace Health and Safety Act
- Liaise and coordinate with stakeholders and other consultants employed by the developer to align safety practices
- Attend main contractor's daily toolbox briefings to communicate safety updates and requirements
- Conduct regular site safety inspections, document observations, and follow up on corrective actions to mitigate risks
- Identify and highlight training or certification needs to comply with legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance
- Analyze risks and apply control measures relevant to each work activity to prevent incidents
- Investigate all accidents and near-miss incidents, document findings accurately on relevant forms, and recommend preventive actions
Required competencies and certifications
- Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with MOM, with at least 3 years of active practice
- Experience developing Risk Management Implementation Plans (e.g., bizSAFE Level 2 or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant construction industry experience, preferably including 2 years with a developer or main contractor
