We are hiring a Windows Infrastructure Specialist to take ownership of a business-critical Windows estate supporting both end-user computing and core server platforms. This role is central to the stability, performance, and scalability of our internal technology stack and works closely with teams across trading, operations, and global IT.
You will be responsible for evolving a highly automated, well-governed Windows environment, with a strong focus on reliability, consistency, and operational efficiency. The role suits an engineer who enjoys deep technical problem-solving, automation at scale, and working in a fast-moving, performance-driven organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and enhance enterprise Windows desktop and server platforms, ensuring resilience, security, and performance across the firm.
- Build and maintain automation frameworks for system provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and remediation.
- Develop production-grade tooling using PowerShell (primary) or Python / C#, with code maintained in shared repositories and subject to peer review.
- Administer and improve identity and access services, including directory services, authentication, and policy enforcement.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues across Windows operating systems, services, and applications in both virtualised and physical environments.
- Partner with global engineering teams to deliver platform upgrades, rollouts, and enhancements, producing clear technical documentation.
- Contribute to platform standards, operational best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Experience & Skills
- Strong, hands-on background supporting modern Windows client and server operating systems in enterprise environments.
- Experience working with virtualisation platforms such as VMware.
- Demonstrated ability to automate infrastructure and operational workflows, ideally using PowerShell.
- Solid understanding of directory services, authentication mechanisms, DNS, and policy management.
- Proven troubleshooting skills in high-availability, production-critical environments.
- Exposure to system performance analysis, capacity management, and hardware health monitoring.
- Comfortable operating under pressure in a time-sensitive, high-expectation setting.
- Clear communicator with a pragmatic, service-driven approach to problem-solving.
