Key Responsibilities
- Receiving & Inspection: Unloading deliveries, verifying quantities against documentation, and inspecting items for defects or damages.
- Inventory Management: Organizing stock on shelves, performing regular cycle counts, and updating records in a Warehouse Management System (WMS) or spreadsheet.
- Order Fulfillment: Picking the correct items from the inventory based on pick lists, packing them securely to prevent damage, and labeling them for shipment.
- Loading & Unloading: Moving heavy cargo and containers, often using equipment like pallet jacks or forklifts.
- Maintenance & Housekeeping: Keeping the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards to comply with safety regulations.
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Physical Fitness: The ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects (often between 15kg to 25kg or more).
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with handheld scanners, barcode technology, and basic computer skills for data entry.
- Safety Awareness: Understanding of workplace safety standards.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in picking orders and maintaining precise inventory levels to minimize errors.
- Teamwork: Collaborating with other assistants and supervisors to meet daily operational targets.
