Job Description

Position: VP Operations APAC

Department: APAC

Reports to: President APAC

Purpose of position

You are responsible for the overall performance of the regional Operations department. Since your results are integral to the overall performance of Envirotainer you play an important role in driving the future success of our company.

Your main task is to (within your region);

  • Ensure effective Logistics planning and execution (which includes monitor, plans and container flows)
  • Customer order management
  • 1st line customer support and processing of claims for damages during lease
  • Provide effective pre-sales and customer onboarding services and support
  • Performance management of Envirotainer's network of own and outsourced stations within the region, which in turn ensures that our containers are handled efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Work closely with regional and global sales organizations to secure the success of Envirotainer

You have performance management responsibilities for your department. This means that you set the objectives and oversee the performance of your department, ensuring that all KPIs are met and you take corrective actions when needed. You have budgetary responsibilities, and exercise financial control over all expenditures. You are responsible for development and improvement of processes within your department, and you encourage continuous improvements.

The position reports to President APAC and is responsible for the four regional subdepartments Logistics, Customer Service, Cold Chain Solution Management and Service Network.

You work closely with the global functions and other regions.

Responsibilities

Logistics Planning & execution

Takes an active role in optimizing, managing and supervising the logistics planning and follow up on execution (within own region, in collaboration with colleagues in other regions and global functions to ensure results on the departments main tasks:

  • Monitor, plan and control container flows
  • Ensure strategies and tactics for repo transport modes (air, train, boat, truck etc.)
  • Contract management and negotiations with transport partners
  • Operational management of repo flows within regions
  • Operational management of booking towards airlines & stations
  • Monitor station availability and communicate with regional sales
  • Forecasting short term and midterm

The role manages critical availability situation when occurring and follow-up to prevent similar situations taking place.

Customer order management and 1st line customer support

Takes an active role in optimizing, managing and supervising the customer order management and service process within own region (in collaboration with VP Operations in the other regions and the global functions to ensure results on the department's main tasks:

  • Order management (monitor e-strix order flows, manual orders, close orders and invoice)
  • Order problem management with customers and logistics
  • First line support to customers (Query filing and follow up, Super user for ELOS, E-strix etc.)

Cold chain solution management

Cold Chain Solution Management play a critical part in being the main interface towards Envirotainers customers for all questions and initiatives related to Reliability. The main tasks are:

  • Focal point in communication with customers and various functions within Envirotainer in matters regarding reliability
  • Drive and support continuous improvements on product performance and business processes
  • Technical sales support in close collaboration with sales organization
  • Container qualification support
  • Support Envirotainer's customers and sales organization on all questions related to Cold Chain
  • Training (internal & commercial)
  • Management of reliability issues with all customers in the assigned region
  • Continuously analyze the reliability situation in the region with a detailed granularity to be able to act proactively and effective.
  • Take a leading role in the root cause analysis and in the implementation of corrective and preventive actions in the field
  • Presentations on Reliability for Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)

Service Network

Main tasks are station performance management, financial controlling; reviewing current and needed station capabilities, process improvement work at stations.

Relationship Management

Relationship Management with airlines, forwarders, shippers and service providers (e.g. ground handlers, repair stations) in the region. Takes an active role in optimizing and managing the interface between own team and any other Envirotainer department.

Sustainability

Responsible for the organization's sustainability strategies and initiatives. The role is to ensure operations align with environmental, social, and ESG standards while driving long-term value, compliance and positive environmental impact.

Managerial responsibilities

Within your team you have certain managerial responsibilities; Personnel Planning, Team management, Recruitment, Performance management, Development, Administration and Continuous improvements and change management.

This means you are to;

  • Lead and distribute initiatives and tasks supporting corporate objectives and strategies. Day-to-day management to ensure performance and cooperation within the team.
  • Set individual objectives per defined period and conduct performance appraisals and regular follow-up of development in daily work.
  • Ensure open communication within team, perform performance appraisals, keep continuous dialogue and provide feedback with all employees to ensure performance, development and right competence levels.
  • Interview, select and employ new personnel to the team.
  • Enforce compliance of personnel with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations.
  • Analyze and follow-up on survey results and take action to improve the employees experience of Envirotainer as employer.
  • Develop and improve processes and way of working within the area of responsibility.

Authority

Approve expenditure's according to Envirotainers delegation and approval limits.

Manage the team and make appurtenant decisions related to recruitment (using grandfather principle), dismissal, competence development or compensation.

Approves repositioning cost for own region, requisitions for equipment, materials and supplies within limits of operations department budget.

Check, approve and sign-off credit notes within approval limits

Relevant work experience and education

  • University degree in business administration, business engineering, engineering or equally valued long-time work experience in a management position
  • Prior logistics experience in the transportation industry, preferably airfreight or airline (at least 3 years)
  • Excellent English skills, both spoken and written.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and internet-based tools, strong skills in usage and requirement specifications of IT tools
  • Previous international experience and willingness to operate globally
  • Experience in Project Management

Location

  • The position is based in Singapore.
  • Travelling within the region on a frequent basis (every month). Intercontinental travelling for training, management forums (estimated to every second month).
