Job Description

Job Purpose

This role within SPDA-FFG leads the development and execution of innovative fund finance products for financial sponsors across Asia Pacific (ex-Japan). You will drive end-to-end fund finance transactions, collaborate globally, and spearhead product innovation to expand the fund finance business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of fund finance transactions, including subscription finance and NAV finance, ensuring timely and compliant deal closure across Asia Pacific (ex-Japan)
  • Conduct thorough due diligence and prepare detailed credit applications with financial models to support approval and closing processes
  • Manage and coordinate the preparation of RFP proposals, term sheets, and loan documentation to secure new business opportunities
  • Support portfolio and operational teams by resolving ad hoc post-closing matters efficiently
  • Monitor and analyze market trends and industry developments to inform product strategy and innovation
  • Drive fund finance product innovation by identifying market opportunities, conducting feasibility analyses, and developing credit evaluation methodologies and risk management policies tailored to SMBC
  • Originate, structure, and execute fund financing transactions for financial sponsors, targeting incremental pipeline growth aligned with NAV Financing KPIs and P/L objectives
  • Lead internal strategy improvements and risk framework enhancements in collaboration with key stakeholders to optimize fund finance operations and cross-selling opportunities
  • Identify and generate cross-sell opportunities to enhance deal-based and client account ROE, including fund FX and derivatives products
  • Coordinate with global teams in New York, London, and Tokyo to align risk analysis and business development rules, ensuring compliance and strategic consistency
  • Oversee execution teams during mandate processes, manage client expectations, troubleshoot issues during deal execution, and conduct post-closing deal reviews
  • Initiate and lead internal initiatives to improve business efficiency, regulatory compliance, and reporting accuracy
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies and product-based account plans in partnership with global sponsor coverage and product teams

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise with 8-10 years of direct experience in financing, including fund-level, corporate, and asset-level finance, preferably from leading financial institutions
  • Strong skills in credit, investment, and financial analysis applied to investment decisions and transaction structuring
  • Proven ability to exercise sound business judgment while adhering to ethical and professional standards
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills with a successful track record of building and leading effective teams
  • Ability to comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies consistently
  • Collaborative team player with strong independence and self-motivation
  • Degree from a leading university relevant to the role
