Job Description

Job Summary

This is a team lead position, and the candidate is expected to be involved in team management, task allocation to the team based on their abilities, acting as checker for complicated transactions, provide guidance to the team, managing internal and external stakeholders, deal structure reviews with front office, and drafting the operational work flows with operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team management
  • Assist the Section Head in the day-to-day management of the team.
  • Plan resources to ensure proper and timely execution of transactions.
  • Provide performance related feedback to the team.
  • Sharing expertise
  • Should have a good understanding of operational, credit and structure risks for trade products. Trade products include - Letters of credit, Guarantees, Stand-by, Prepayments, Borrowing bases, Receivable Purchase, Payable Finance, Invoice Finance etc.
  • Should stay updated with domain trends and best practices.
  • Guidance and Training
  • Identify work related development needs of the team and provide suitable training to them
  • Ensure that each member of the team is trained on all aspects of the deals and can function independently.
  • Guide the team on the monitoring requirements of complicated deals/ structures
  • Project management
  • Work with Technology team to digitize the transactions and conduct required testing
  • Work with Operations team to identify tasks that can be centralized within the region and in-source/ out-source them to the centre of excellence
  • Prepare for internal and external audits and work with auditors for suitable resolution

A Typical Day Involves

  • Setting up the framework - Working with front office, back office, and support teams to prepare the workflow, checklist and monitoring sheets required for new deals/products.
  • Managing the daily transactions as checker
  • Working with front office, operations, and compliance to get the deal executed
  • Looking out for opportunities to streamline the middle office function.
  • Looking out for risks that are not addressed and take prompt action.

Requirements

  • A minimum of at least 7-10 years of relevant experience in Trade middle office
  • Should have a good understanding of Trade products (Open account trade and Conventional trade, as listed above)
  • Exposure to complex structures such as Insurance backed programs is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Relevant Trade certifications would be an advantage
