Role Overview
The VP of Global Sourcing is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing global sourcing strategies to strengthen cost competitiveness, supplier performance, and supply continuity. This role is pivotal in supporting business growth by aligning sourcing initiatives with operational, financial, and product objectives across regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of global sourcing strategies across direct materials and strategic commodities to support cost optimization, supply resilience, and long-term business sustainability.
- Establish and manage a robust global supplier base, including supplier segmentation, qualification, performance evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive structured cost-reduction and value-creation initiatives through cost analysis, supplier negotiations, value engineering, and productivity programs.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, finance, and product teams to align sourcing strategies with manufacturing needs, product roadmaps, and financial targets.
- Monitor global market conditions such as commodity trends, tariffs, and geopolitical risks, and implement proactive risk mitigation and contingency strategies.
- Support localization, supplier transition, and capacity expansion initiatives to ensure supply readiness and operational continuity.
- Define sourcing governance, policies, and performance metrics to ensure disciplined execution, transparency, and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global or regional sourcing team, fostering strong leadership, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Contribute to working capital optimization through supplier terms, inventory strategies, and cross-functional planning.
- Provide strategic input to senior leadership on sourcing risks, opportunities, and long-term supply chain capability development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification or MBA is an advantage.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in global sourcing or supply chain leadership within industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated success in delivering sustainable cost savings, supplier performance improvements, and strategic sourcing outcomes.
- Strong expertise in supplier management, commercial negotiations, cost analysis, and cross-functional engagement.
- Proven experience leading and developing teams in regional or global, matrix-driven organizations.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and financial acumen with the ability to translate strategy into execution.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Willingness to travel domestically & internationally as required to support regional operations and supplier engagement.
