Veterinary Rehabilitation Technician

Company Description The Pet Physio provides comprehensive veterinary rehabilitation services focused on improving mobility, comfort, and quality of life for companion animals. The team offers in-depth assessments to understand each animal's specific needs, followed by tailored exercise and manual therapy programs. Advanced modalities such as laser therapy, shockwave therapy, dry needling, peripheral magnetic stimulation, and hydrotherapy are used to support recovery and long-term wellness. Care is delivered in a compassionate, patient-centered environment, with an emphasis on gentle handling, safety, and individualized treatment plans.

Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Veterinary Rehabilitation Technician role based. The technician will assist with patient intake and in-depth functional assessments, accurately recording clinical findings and supporting physiotherapists during consultations. Day-to-day tasks include preparing treatment areas, administering or assisting with exercise therapy, manual therapy, laser therapy, shockwave therapy, dry needling, peripheral magnetic stimulation, and hydrotherapy under appropriate supervision. The role involves monitoring patients during sessions, tracking progress, maintaining rehabilitation equipment, and ensuring a clean and safe environment. The technician will also communicate with pet guardians regarding home exercises, appointment scheduling, and follow-up care while contributing to a calm, caring experience for every animal.

• Formal training in veterinary technology, animal science, physiotherapy assistance, or a related field, with experience in small animal practice or rehabilitation settings preferred.
• Knowledge of animal anatomy, biomechanics, and common orthopedic or neurologic conditions, with the ability to support exercise and manual therapy programs safely.
• Hands-on skills or strong interest in modalities such as laser therapy, shockwave therapy, hydrotherapy, dry needling, and peripheral magnetic stimulation, with willingness to undergo structured training.
• Strong observational, recording, and basic clinical skills to monitor patient responses, document sessions clearly, and assist in developing individualized treatment plans.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and to guide pet guardians through rehabilitation routines in a clear, empathetic manner.
• Ability to handle animals gently yet confidently, including those with pain, anxiety, or mobility challenges, while maintaining high standards of safety and welfare.
• Good physical stamina to assist with lifting, positioning, and supporting animals in water and on equipment, and to manage active therapy sessions throughout the workday.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in veterinary rehabilitation and openness to learning new techniques, protocols, and evidence-based practices.
