Vessel Operator

Our client is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Vessel Operator to join their Dry Cargo operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth, efficient, and cost-effective voyage execution while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan and optimise voyages in line with charter party terms and operational requirements.
• Coordinate voyage logistics by liaising with vessel masters, chartering teams, agents, and bunker suppliers to ensure seamless operations.
• Ensure compliance with voyage orders, safety standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Manage and control voyage-related costs, including appointing agents, handling port disbursements, and monitoring bunker procurement.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with brokers, agents, and service providers to ensure clear communication and smooth operations.
• Maintain accurate data and voyage documentation using IMOS or similar operational systems.
• Contribute to sustainability initiatives by incorporating fuel-efficient and environmentally responsible practices.
• Identify areas for process improvement and support operational excellence initiatives.
• Coordinate with the insurance team on voyage-related incidents, claims, and P&I matters.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies or a related discipline.
• Prior experience as a ship officer or in a vessel operations or shipping coordination role will be an advantage.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of IMOS or similar systems will be an advantage.
• Team-oriented, proactive, and detail-focused individual with a keen interest in shipping operations.
