Job Description

About Marvell

Marvell's semiconductor solutions are the essential building blocks of the data infrastructure that connects our world. Across enterprise, cloud and AI, and carrier architectures, our innovative technology is enabling new possibilities.

At Marvell, you can affect the arc of individual lives, lift the trajectory of entire industries, and fuel the transformative potential of tomorrow. For those looking to make their mark on purposeful and enduring innovation, above and beyond fleeting trends, Marvell is a place to thrive, learn, and lead.

Your Team, Your Impact

Marvell Optics R&D Validation team focuses on the validation of high speed silicon photonics optical platforms, including photonic integrated circuits (PICs), high speed electrical interfaces (such as TIAs and drivers), and advanced integrated and co packaged optics solutions.
The role supports validation of high data rate optical interconnects, covering PAM4 based links at up to 224 Gb/s line rate (or 212 Gb/s net). Responsibilities include ensuring measured performance meets design, signal integrity, and system level requirements for both short and long reach optical communication.

What You Can Expect

  • Set up, bring up, and maintain automated test platforms for calibration and characterization of optical transceivers, electro‑optic components, or high‑speed electronic subsystems.
  • Develop and enhance test automation software, including:
    • Calibration routines
    • Characterization and verification test flows
    • Test data validation and basic analysis
  • Debug and resolve issues spanning test software, instrumentation, hardware, and DUT behavior.
  • Support products across the lifecycle, from early R&D validation through engineering qualification and high‑volume production.
  • Collaborate closely with design, validation, and manufacturing teams to improve test robustness, coverage, and efficiency.

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Communications, or a related field, with 2-5 years of experience in optical component or high‑speed link testing or

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5-7+ years of relevant professional experience.

Core Expectations (Required)

  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills, with the ability to debug complex technical problems.
  • Hands‑on engineering experience in at least one of the following domains:
    • Software / Test Automation
      • Python (preferred), C/C++, or equivalent
      • Experience automating instruments, test flows, or data processing
    • High‑Speed Digital / Hardware
      • Understanding of signal integrity fundamentals
      • Familiarity with S‑parameters, impedance matching, reflections, and channel behavior
    • Optical Transceivers / Optical Systems
      • Knowledge of optical communication components or transceiver modules
      • Experience with optical or electro‑optic testing at component or system level

Additional Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Exposure to multiple domains listed above
  • Background or working knowledge in digital signal processing (DSP)
  • Familiarity with MATLAB and/or ADS
  • Knowledge of or experience with Silicon Photonics
  • Experience debugging mixed hardware‑software test environments

Soft Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional team environment
  • Clear communication and documentation skills

Additional Compensation and Benefit Elements

With competitive compensation and great benefits, you will enjoy our workstyle within an environment of shared collaboration, transparency, and inclusivity.
