Job Description
UX/UI Designer
Compensation: S$4,000 to S$6,000/month + up to 3 months variable bonus
Work Arrangement: 5-day work week, Monday to Friday
Most of our customers will never set foot in our showroom. For them, the website is BullionStar: it is where they watch the price move, weigh us up against everyone else, and decide whether to trust us with a serious part of their savings. Designing that experience is not decoration. It is the difference between a visitor and a customer, and we need someone who treats it that way.
As UX/UI Designer, you will own how BullionStar looks and works across the website, mobile, email and our digital campaigns: from the user flow to the final pixel, and from the design file to what actually ships. You will work closely with our Product Team, designing the interfaces for the solutions they are building for customers.
Who we are
BullionStar is Singapore's leading precious metals dealer. We sell, buy back, store, and deliver physical gold, silver, and platinum to customers worldwide, from first-time buyers to institutional investors. We operate a full-service showroom in Singapore, a comprehensive e-commerce platform, and vault storage facilities across multiple jurisdictions.
We are independently owned, founder-led, and intentionally lean. There are no layers of corporate bureaucracy here. Decisions are made quickly, everyone is close to the customer, and every person in the business has a direct impact on what we deliver. We've built our reputation on trust, transparency, and doing things properly.
We're looking for people who are drawn to that kind of environment: people who want ownership, not job titles, and who find energy in building something rather than maintaining something.
One thing to know about our customers: they are sceptics by temperament. They distrust banks, they distrust hype, and they judge us on the details. To someone about to wire us a five-figure sum, a misaligned table, a vague chart or a checkout that feels flimsy is not a cosmetic issue. Design here earns trust with clarity and precision, not decoration.
What you will actually do
- Product design. The core of the role: the website and customer platform. Browsing, product pages, live price charts, checkout, account dashboards. User flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity UI, then the follow-through with our developers until what ships matches what you designed.
- Design system. The components, patterns and discipline that keep hundreds of pages consistent across desktop and mobile. You will inherit some of this and build the rest.
- Campaign design. Landing pages, email campaigns, banners and digital marketing assets, working hand-in-hand with marketing so the ad, the email and the page it lands on feel like one campaign.
- Brand. Typography, colour, layout and imagery across every touchpoint: digital, social, and the physical showroom. You will have real input into where the visual identity goes next.
- Photography and visual storytelling. Gold and silver are among the most photogenic products on earth and among the hardest to photograph honestly. You won't be behind the camera all day, but you will care about lighting, styling and composition, and it will show in the work.
- The craft, improved. We are an AI-forward company. You will use emerging AI-powered tools wherever they genuinely make the work better or faster and have the judgement to know where they don't.
Who you are
- A portfolio of shipped work. Real products that real people used, not just concepts. Walk us through the problem, the decisions you made, what went live and what happened afterwards. This matters more to us than any qualification.
- UX and UI, genuinely both. You think in flows, states and edge cases, and you also have the visual craft to make the result beautiful. Plenty of designers have one we need both in the same person.
- E-commerce experience. You have designed things people buy through. You understand product pages, checkout, and what makes someone complete a purchase, and you know the difference between persuasion and a dark pattern. Our customers can smell the latter.
- Fluent in the tools and the medium. Proficiency in Figma, working knowledge of the Adobe suite, and enough HTML/CSS to design things that can actually be built and to speak with developers as a peer. Experience with design systems and reusable components.
- Obsessive about detail. On a page displaying a live gold price, precision is the brand. You notice the one-pixel misalignment, and it bothers you until it's fixed.
- Taste grounded in the customer. Your design judgement comes from who we are and who buys from us, not personal aesthetic preference, and you can explain the call to someone who disagrees.
- A clear communicator. You present concepts, take feedback without preciousness, run several projects at once, and keep your files organised enough that someone else could pick them up.
- Genuinely inquisitive. You don't need to arrive knowing why a kilobar photographs differently from a proof coin, but you should want to find out. Nobody hands you a syllabus here.
- Based in Singapore. This is an on-site role at New Bridge Road. We work in the same room, and when we are busy, everyone gets stuck in: the shop, the customers, the vault. An afternoon watching customers at the counter will teach you more about our users than a month of heatmaps.
You have probably been doing this for four or more years, but we care far more about what you've shipped than how long you've been shipping it.
Bonus points for product photography experience short-form video or motion graphics (After Effects, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve) user research or usability testing and hands-on experience using AI tools in a real design workflow.
